Swimming at Heel.Sit

Heel.Sit keeps the pool part going all year long with our indoor pool. Swimming is great exercise, confidence building, and enrichment. We recommend dogs only swim for short periods at a time. When a dog starts swim lessons the first goal is get them comfortable with going up steps and being in the dock. Once they feel good about that we show them how to get in and out of the pool. Only then do we start teaching them how to swim. Most dogs won't retrieve toys until they are confident in their swimming abilities. That's when the fun starts! It can take several sessions for dogs to learn to love swimming. Most dogs do love some form of water play if they are given time to feel safe.
If you have any interest in dock diving with your dog we can help you get started. We can teach your dog to swim and be confident in the water and retrieving toys. Once you feel ready we send you right over to Lucky Dog Acres in Princeton, Iowa to start practicing in a bigger pool with a dock.

If you are already competing in dock diving our pool is there to keep your dog swimming fit all year round. If you'd like help with a fitness plan and ground exercises to work on strength, striding, and retrieves we can help.

Swimming is also a great low impact fitness activity that builds a lot of confidence. We approach swimming slowly so that your dog can learn to love it. Novel experiences such as swimming are a great source of enrichment to add to your dog's day.
Swimming is add-on service option for Daycare and Boarding dogs for $10.

Swim lessons are $25 for 30 minutes. During swim lessons we show you how to use the pool area and will get in the pool with your dog or help you to do so and go over swim safety.

Once you have had a swim lesson we will check off your prerequisites so that you can do a pool rental. Pool rentals are $10 for 15 minutes. You can book two back to back for a longer swim time.
