Rat-tastic

fun at Heel.Sit

I know, I know rats. Ick. If they aren't your thing don't worry you don't have to see them. They are secured in their town house away from view. We love these ladies a lot and they live a very full and comfortable life. They like their tube time because they get treats. They live around dogs so are accustomed to their sounds and smells and spend a lot of time watching them from their safe spaces. They have never had a bad encounter with a dog so they don't fear them. They only work for and hour or two a couple times a week and the rest of the time they are either in their comfy town house with things to climb on and chewy and lots of snacks to bury and unbury or in their exercise balls crashing around the breakroom.

We offer training geared towards Happy Ratters, which is a scent detection sport that uses your dog’s natural hunting instincts in a fun and safe way. Dogs are encouraged to sniff out live rats hidden in the environment. Rats are safely enclosed in tubes for their protection.

This is a great beginner level activity to strengthen your bond with your dog though enriching team building exercises. It also builds confidence by encouraging them to use the sniffy part of their brain. As your dog progresses you have the opportunity to compete for titles!
